2015 San Sebastián Street Festival

Taking a Break, San Sebatián Street Festival
@2015 Angel Xavier Viera-Vargas
In 2015, the 45th edition of the San Sebastián Street Festival will be dedicated to the great Puerto Rican boxer Felix “Tito” Trinidad and the event’s commemorative poster will be created by Puerto Rican painter René Benvenutti. Throughout the weekend—whether day or night—the streets of Old San Juan become the site of the biggest and loudest town festival imaginable. The atmosphere turns vibrant with musicians and bands playing drums and trumpets and the presence of charming masked characters. Hundreds of stalls with handicrafts will be selling along the street, in adjacent patios, and inside the Ballajá Barracks building. This is an excellent opportunity to buy fine handicrafts and products made in Puerto Rico.

The municipality of San Juan eliminates the ban on outdoor drinking for the duration of this festival, and every restaurant and bar on San Sebastián St. and adjacent areas that has a window can open to quench festivalgoers’ thirst. This event also features delicious Puerto Rican food sold right on the street.

The San Sebastián Street Festival begins Jan. 15 and ends Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015. For more information   call 787-723-7800.
